General Mitford has directed me to write to you in order that you may know how very sensible he is to the good work you have done for your Battalion.

General Mitford fully appreciates the difficulties you had to deal with in reorganising your Battalion after the Engagement at Hulluch; he visited your Battalion today and is more than satisfied with the results you have produced, and wishes to ensure that you are aware of his appreciation.
