My dear Mother,

I don’t know that I have any knews – we left our last abode this morning & are now behind in huts with the mess in an estaminet, & are about to begin a week’s training.  We have got the C. O. of the 3rd. Somersets attached for instruction, as he has not been out before & I suppose they want to show there people what thing’s are like out here, so I have got to look after him, which might make things rather awkward only he seems a good chap & wishes to be regarded as

an outsider.  The place does not provide much entertainment except the Cinema, which I have been to to-night. The weather at the moment is too beastly for anything

Love to all

Jack.
