My dear Father,

I got across all right last night, though I had
some hours at Folkestone to put in before they thought of starting.  I am going back to the old crowd, but they do not appear to be where I expected and I am starting off at 6.30 a. m to-morrow on my travels to find them.  They kept me back a day here to get fitted with a gas helmet or I should have gone up this morning.  The crossing was very steady & had I not broken a bottle of hair oil, which saturated everything in my saddle bag, there would have been no incident worth recording.  It is very wet to- day.

Love to all

Jack.
