My dear Mother,

Another day spent on the farm, though farming has temporarily ceased while a regimental barber is operating on the farmers locks.  I suppose there is no one else to do it for him, as the village barbers shop has gone with the rest & its place knows it no more.  I got Joseph’s letter this morning which Father sent on to me.  I have also heard from several other people, George McCausland & Temple & Rosamond Furman & others.  I have been busy hunting through Gramophone Record lists, as I have bought one ^ a gramophone for the Canteen & I have had to get some ditties suitable to its audience. However I sent round to get the men’s ideas on the subject & they all appear to like something with a moan in it, so I have ordered a lot of the necessary kind, more than I ought I think, as we have no room for the organ in our transport in

any case & where the records will go I have no idea.

I must now cease to go to a boxing contest.

Love to all

Jack.
